Attila the Hen.jpg

Ft. St. James, B.C.

Had to include this. Every day in the summer the Park
holds fun chicken races. The public can bet on the chickens
(no charge) and if you choose a winner you win money to
spend in the Park store :) The chickens all have funny
names - and, much to my surprise, run like mad, making it
difficult to get a shot. The trainer told us that they
started with food as a lure, but now seem to run for the fun.
Quite hilarious - the grandchildren really enjoyed it. This breed
was especially chosen by the pioneers here for their large size (15 lbs.),
good laying and being well feathered for the winters.
