Reverse Rotation

It's unlikely many of you will be able to relate with the title and might find it confusing. This is a snoozer and not likely to last till voting day. Paul

Me too! I vaguely knew this...but not really. Sigh...what I don't know is huge. Traveller

Following is a entry level power primer. 3 phase power is simple but at the same time very complex.
All utility power is generated at 3 phase meaning the generators have 3 primary coils in them placed 120 degrees apart from each other. This creates strong a rotating effect in the power line and 3 phase equipment is built the same way with the stator coils placed at 120 degrees. This allows for simple rotation in 3 phase motors but the field wiring must be connected properly to get the motor to rotate the correct direction otherwise it will rotate backwards (reverse rotation) and depending on the situation it can do serious and irreversible damage so knowing the correct rotation for equipment is critical. I must confess, I don't know...I do see the reverse circular arrow...but what it means?
Damned if I know...I suspect that only smart people know...;>}}} Traveller

Not sure I'd go as far as calling it "loveliness"..... You must have checked in just as I was posting it. But the bigger question is by looking at the photo are you able to determine what I was trying to convey with this photo and title?
Public Service Announcement PSA.07.05.2017! Even tho more people get killed/injured on 120 volt single phase when you get nailed by 277/480V 3 Ph you know you got hit by something big. Believe me, I can speak from first hand experience. YOW!! Don't mess with this stuff unless you know exactly what you are doing.
