Ayers Rock.

I am back from my travels.
This was my first glimpse of Ayers Rock.
The outback was dry but beautiful.I loved the stillness.

Thank you so much Terry ,Elaine and Hal. I will certainly read this up.
I did a tour with a guide but did not get information on its origin

Spectacular image, Sally. Truly an amazing formation. Elaine has the origin right. Here is
a link describing Ayers Rock's origins, if anyone is interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uluru#Age_and_origin

The creation of Uluru and Kata Tjuta — as both were formed at the same time — began over 500 million years ago. At this time the big crustal blocks that form the Australian continent coming together. ... However, the feldspar sand that became the arkose sandstone of Uluru was dumped at the bottom of the mountain range.

Great shot, Sally. Amazing experience. I loved the calmness as you did. I also love the way the rock is constantly changing.

A strange formation.
Looks like it must have fallen from space.
