Built in the late 1880s by Cheong Fatt Tze to house one of his seven wives. Cheong eventually became China's richest man and the mansion was built
to the highest standards of it day. Falling into disrepair after his death, it was beautifully restored and opened as an historic hotel in the 1990s.
