Today we headed out to Gloucester (pronounced glasta) to spend some time with my grad school room mate Chip and his wife Margaret. They have a very nice house overlooking the harbor. We had a very nice time catching up and just enjoying the moments. We went to dinner at the yacht club then to a wind quintet concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport. The musical group was widely acclaimed and very accomplished. They played some weird stuff the likes of which I had never heard before. It was interesting, I suppose. The music is not the type that sticks in your head.
Today's photo is of an old building covered in lobster buoys and oars which probably washed up on the beach over the years. This is the type of thing you see quite a bit of in these parts. Unfortunately, the fishing industry in general has just about disappeared. It has been replaced by tourism. I have commented about tourism before. A little bit goes a long way. Once the transition begins there is no turning back.
