6-30-2017 Juvenile Green Heron

b

I have only seen a couple of these herons. This is one of four hatchlings at a nest near us, here in Edmonds, Washington. They are much smaller than the Great Blue Herons.
I was lucky to find one with good lighting. BTW this almost
looks like I used flash - but in fact just natural lighting.

Incredible close-up and light. Truly a winner here...

Wonderful, I love the expression

Thanks, Sally - yes, a fuzzy crew-cut :)

What a perfect capture Terry.
Looks like he has a crew cut!

Thanks Elaine. I appreciate your very generous and kind comment.

Always a delight to look at one of your wonderful shots and this is another winner.
I like the look of intensity in the bird's eye and pose.
Great work, as usual.

Thanks very much, Cindy and Hal. Hal, they do share those eyes, though. :)

A wonderfully clear and detailed shot Terry.
Wonderful detail and lighting.
Only the lack of high-light in the eye
and the shadow on the left leg would tell us
that you had not used flash.
We have a very few around here. They certainly don't look like the GBH.
They don't even look like a near relation.
Simply a brilliant photograph, Terry.

The lighting and detail are both excellent. This was a great find to capture a juvenile. I used to see Green Herons a lot in Florida, but they are rare around here.
