Petrified watermelons... 20161003_7565

While exploring the back roads near King Hill, Idaho (east of Glenns Ferry) I encountered this scene. The "petrified watermelons" are actually basalt rocks that were transported for miles by the Bonneville Flood. Fields here were full of the "melons."
