A different species of Harissia from what I photographed last week: http://www.pbase.com/pegsam/image/165697649
Also different from the other species is that this bloom was fairly fragrant, almost like honeysuckle. However, this one is
the same in that the bloom is fleeting, usually only once per year, and only lasting for a single evening.
We had transplanted this plant from our previous home about 13 years ago. Actually, this particular plant was a rescue from
some carnage inflicted by javelina many years ago. We originally planted in the front yard of our home only to find out that
the javelina tend to frequent that area as a salad bar, so it is difficult to grow anything that they consider to be remotely tasty.
This plant has been in a pot in our back yard, away from most of the pests in our area of the Catalina Foothills.
