My Toyota Sienna has a big winch on the front end for rescuing stranded off-roaders in their overturned Jeeps and ATVs. For stability's sake, the winch cable has a big metal weight attached at the hook end. The weight keeps the cable from vibrating while pulling vehicles out of creeks, mud holes, and the like.
I lied. The cable doesn't vibrate. The weight is a dummy and is only for show. It impresses the ATV drivers.
If you believe I lied again, how about this?: the cable is attached to a mobile crane that was at our house to hoist a fallen tree out of our yard. My foot is there for scale.
