One of the main reasons we visited Hillwood was to see this exhibit titled “Spectacular Gems and Jewelry from the Merriweather Post Collection.”
This was a beautiful pearl, diamond and platinum necklace, with clasp by Cartier New York 1936 and pearls by Caro Yamaoka, ca. 1963. The long clasp drapes down the back when worn.
I have no more accompanying images for the items on display, so will just post my remaining pictures from the exhibit, probably interspersed with other new captures. There were a couple of pieces that I liked but simply couldn’t get a decent picture of, on two separate visits, in particular a 17.5 carat oval diamond ring where the light emanating from the gem was just too brilliant for my iPhone.
