Five images of an other attempt by the young Owlet to get up off the ground during its first day out of the nest cavity.
Top Image: After a couple of failed attemps to climb vertical tree trunks, then a few low-sloping dead trunks on the forest floor, the Owlet picked this sloping trunk in an attempt to get up closer to where Mom was perched.
Still a tough climb using every tool at its disposal; namely, its feet/talons, its wings and its beak. Remnants of bark can be seen on its beak.
When the Owlets gets to a bend in the tree trunk, it spots a branch which looks inviting. Perhaps it can sit on the branch and rest, or perhaps Mom can bring up some lunch.
Ooops, it proved to be the wrong decision as it had not quite mastered the technique. It is now hanging on by a thread, so to speak. It hung like this for awhile and then...............
....................it lost its toe-hold and dropped/fluttered back to the ground. Maybe next time!
