Be sure to view in Original Size

This is the female (I think) of an eagle pair that have
one nestling, here in Woodway, Washington.
They had two, but I think one got tossed out of the nest two weeks ago.
Sometimes nature is hard to watch.

Amity be stretching but still has that 'eagle eye' and ready for action from the looks of her.
Great detail, Terry.

Thanks very much, Hal. And thanks for the information - I wondered the same thing...
it this a stretch prior to flying, or simply a typical stretch. Of course I was waiting
for it to take off - always a great photo op - but it did not.

A very fine and rare image Terry. Judging from poultry
(that l used to breed) this eagle is going through
the stretching cycle, where they stretch the leg and wing
together, on one side of the body.
Presumably this reflex is common in many bird species.
lt would be very rare to photograph it in an eagle.
