Messier 13 (M13): The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules

Imaged from Beckwith Township

Messier 13 (M13), also known as the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, is an open star cluster located in Hercules constellation.

This 11.65 billion year old formation of stars is one of the most impressive globular clusters in the northern hemisphere. Containing over 300,000 stars packed into a 145 light year sphere, the center of this glorious object is 500 times more concentrated than its outer perimeters.
