Continental Airlines offered me a cargo agent position at Miami International Airport and gave me a pass to fly out there and back for a required interview. Rather than spend more time getting out there and back I opted to get a National Airlines spouse pass so I could take nonstop flights and eat much better food up in first class. I was out there for a day and returned home to Miami that evening. I was offered the job but a week later they rescinded the offer due to a cutback in service to three Texas airports and someone "bumped" into the position I was going to fill. That was a lucky break for me because Continental declared bankruptcy soon after and abrogated all their labor agreements regarding wages and benefits.
