UPDATE 6-08-17
Bailey and Bella licked a spoon together tonight (one girl on one side & the other girl on the other side). So Bailey has already totally accepted the new puppy. It took Bailey 3 days to get over her jealous fit.
Now, all is again fine with the world. Bella fits right in.

Obviously, that is something Bailey will NEVER be allowed to do!!! I was shocked that Bailey would ever try to bite anything because that's never been her personality at all. However, Bailey is so jealous of the new pup that she is beside herself.

Because our other dogs immediately accepted Bella, the 4 1/2 month old, baby pup has no idea of why Bailey doesn't like her. Although she'll happily play with the others, Bella is hesitant to even look at Bailey who won't stop barking at her. The barking is something we can't stop. We can protect Bella from all else, but not the angry barking.

So we'll all have to live with Bailey's going a little bit nuts until she sees the new puppy is here to stay. Bailey is a total Prima Donna & used to being the "baby in the family". So she now seems to be afraid that tiny Bella may replace her in our affections.

That just means we have to work with Bailey to convince her that her new "baby sister" is going to be a playmate for her to have fun with & is not competition. In all my years with Chihuahuas, I've never before encountered a situation like this. But we'll work through it. We have confidence that Bailey and Bella will end up as friends. Luckily, Bella is not becoming overly upset over crazy Bailey. She obviously wants to be friends with Bailey. Bella is super sweet. So was Bailey until this.

Therefore, things will work out - with our help. We'll have to give the new puppy lots of love and attention; while not giving Bailey any less than what she's been used to. For 3 years, Bailey has been my constant shadow. So she has also been spoilt rotten. That isn't going to change. As soon as Bailey realizes nothing is going to change for her, I'm sure she won't feel so threatened by a new puppy in the house. I really believe that Bailey will actually learn to like Bella. She just needs some time and guidance.
