This is why its good to have several opinions on this stuff. We all know art is highly subjective and from my perspective the shadow is what makes the shot standout. The more one looks at it either you say "wow love that minimalistic form of art" or "DULL AND BLAH"! As I first said I think it's fascinating especially for such a simple photo. Paul

Hi Ken, the question of the shadow starts to become an artistic question. Then the answer is one an artist and the viewer can discuss. When I first saw it, my reaction was a piece of the leaf was missing. However the shadow adds some tension to the photo - it makes me look and think about it. as I continue to give my comment more thought, I think I would leave the shadow as it introduces more conversation.

Thanks, Jim. I agree ... The shadow from the smaller leaf in back almost makes it look as if a chunk of the big leaf is missing. It might be better if the smaller leaf wasn't there. Can't decide.

I like the contrast and detail I see with this lighting. However, I still cannot decide if I'd like the shadow of the back leaf.

Very simplistic.

Thanks, Dave! Thanks, Paul! I appreciate the kind words. I was out in the back yard and noticed the leaves on this plant glowing from the back light. So I went inside, got a camera, came back out and shot this. - Ken

That picture proves that rules are sometimes meant to be broken.
