Liquid Air

I don’t know if this little creek has a name.
It flows through the Hall of Mosses in the Hoh Rain Forest.
It comes out of the forest flowing over and around
a tangle of ancient moss covered logs.
Weaving slowly through the vegetation
and mosses the water filters to
a crystal clarity that is rarely seen.
The glacier flower that’s settled on and colors
the creek bed speaks of past floods that brought it
down from the highest peaks when the
river flowed on this side of the valley.
But on this day, flowing in the Hoh Rain Forest,
it was a ribbon of clean, clear, liquid air.
Gently reveling itself undulating and bending the light
like looking through an antique window pane.
