Another Sunday. Of course we went to church and afterwards had coffee with our friends. This being the first Sunday of the month, the Knights of Columbus put on a nice breakfast. As we were chatting with our friends Ginny mentioned that we had ordered a new washer and dryer. The question came up of whether we ordered an electric or a gas dryer. Well, we ordered an electric dryer since that was what we were familiar with. The others at the table had gas dryers and they said they really liked them. We did have a gas outlet behind our dryer, so we could just as well install a gas dryer.

We headed home with our usual stop at Kroger. Once back at the house, we started doing some internet research and decided that we ought to give the gas dryer a try. So it was back to Best Buy where we had ordered the washer and dryer. In short order Jim, the best sales guy ever, had our order modified and the gas dryer was on the way. We agreed that it was a good choice.

We are replacing what we have. On the right is the washing machine we have had since 1992 (25 years). I have had to do some repairs over the years, but it has come to the point where the agitator is not agitating properly (some gear is broken deep inside) and it has developed a slow leak. But I have to admit 25 years of service is pretty good. It is a Whirlpool. On the left is our venerable electric dryer. We have had it since we lived in Spartanburg. It is 40 years old and it is a Whirlpool. I have had to replace the heating element several times as well as some over-temperature sensors, but it is still ticking. It is getting rather noisy because some of the bearings in the drum rollers are probably getting bad. I am still amazed that it held up for all those years. It got used a lot. Remember, we raised three boys.

Wednesday is the day for delivery and installation of our new machines. I am anxious to have the new ones. As I have mentioned before, we have replaced every appliance, cabinet, toilet and plumbing fixture in the house except for the dishwasher. Big changes. Having all new stuff is fun.
