These three images plus some more in other galleries I consider miracle images. In the summer of 2015 I was kayaking on a very rough Lake Ontario with every precaution taken to prevent water damage coming from the direction of the bow. The front of the boat for the land lubbers. The wave came out of nowhere over my left shoulder and I felt as if someone had dumped a bushel basket of water on me and my gear. Everything was drenched and it was a couple of hours before I arrived home to begin the soaked camera drill. Over night in separate bags of rice both units seemed OK. I suspected the 700 was going to die a grim death and as it was a third body I parked it. The 80-200 seemed to be fine and I used it successfully until the fall of 2016 when it stopped focusing.
At that point it was probably 20 years old and was pronounced dead not to be economically repaired. A new one is $3600.00, not something to even contemplate.
Spring cleaning in March this year I picked up the A700, stuck a battery in it and it sprung to life. Now I'm looking at the 80-200, which I had almost tossed a couple of times, stuck it on the A700 and it worked. Wow!
I do not know how much longer it has but I shall relish the moments.
