I just had to make something on our new gas cook top. This is the best feature of our newly remodeled home. Cooking on gas is so much better than cooking on electric. It seemed to me that the best dish to make first would naturally be some chili. I like to use one of the kits from the store and then enhance it to make it mine. Usually that means more chili powder, garlic powder and cilantro. I tossed in some green peppers and onion just to make sure. Normally I don't put beans in chili. I had no intention to do so today, but I got outvoted by Ginny, so of course there were beans in the chili. One important thing to note is that it takes beer to make chili.

Our Steinway grand piano received some damage in the flood. Fortunately it was just the bottom six inches of the legs and the legs of the bench. The piano guys game today and removed the legs and hauled them away for repair. I had always wondered how it might be dismantled if need be. They put the piano on its side and used a big rubber mallet to dislodge them. It is a little disconcerting when some monkey starts whacking away at your very expensive piano. In a couple weeks we will be back in business.
