Project Day 103 - Exile Day 53 - We went to church and then coffee and donuts with our friends. The usual Sunday morning routine. After that we made a shopping trip to Wal Mart, Kohl's, Lowe's and Staples. Ginny returned some stuff and bought some stuff. One of the things she bought was a toner cartridge for our HP LaserPrinter. These things are not cheap. They cost about $100. We have had laser printers for a very long time and we would never want to do without one. Although the cost is very high, they print a lot of pages and probably are a lot cheaper than ink jet cartridges in the long run. The LaserJet has several advantages including high speed printing and the ability to print on both sides of the page. Additionally, the print is very sharp.

If you think way back to when ink jet printers first hit the market, sharp printing was a problem. Our first ink jet printer was the HP DeskJet 500C, a CMY color printer. Notice CMY not CMYK. You could either use the three color cartridge or a black cartridge. The composite black from the CMY had a putrid green hue to it. So, if you were going to print text, you would insert the black cartridge. The problem at the time was the ink would wick on the papers available initially. The type was blurred. There were papers that came out with the name ink jet paper. These didn't wick and worked just fine. Over the years the advances in paper and ink technology led to having any ream of paper being suitable for ink jet and laser jet printing.
