Three bridges span the ravine at Devil's Bridge, the oldest, lowermost, one reputedly built by the devil. It is more likely that it was built by monks as this was on a trade route from nearby Strata Florida abbey. Hence the Welsh word for the village of Devil's Bridge is Pontarfynach - bridge of the monks.
