Beach on Taketomi Island

There is only one village on Taketomi Island, with traditional Okinawan architecture, beautiful beaches, stone walls, sand streets and transportation by water buffalo-drawn carts. It had a population of 323 as of January 2012.

Taketomi has a lovely beach, but we spent all our time in the village and only saw it from afar. I think this was the only motor vehicle I saw during our day on the island.

Sounds like a great place, still without all of the advancements that have created a hurry up society, with its accompanying health problems. A calmer, slower paced lifestyle would help all of us.

Beautiful. I love the lines of this, the long sandy beach; and those little sparkles on the water.
