The Small Pond is located within the Karkonosze National Park, at 1195 m, in the post-glacial Cirque (Kociol Malego Stawu).
At the pond there is Samotnia Refuge - an excellent starting point for hiking atop Mt. Snieżka or to the Czech refuges and picturesque Great Pond (Wielki Staw).
