Sotheast Texas

Pecan Logs and Gator Heads
Pecans and Alligators are two things that Southeast Texas is famous for... rice and crawfish are close behind.
Drive-by shot of an iconic sign for the roadside restaurant that sells Texas souvenirs.
One of the more popular 'trinkets' for purchase to commemorate your trip is a dehydrated baby alligator head.
Yes. Not kidding.
That's a rice field in the background.

One thing I treasure about Britain is the lack of roadside advertising like in the U.S. Although it must be said, some farmers conveniently place trailers in fields with advertising to make it legal!

what do the gator heads taste like? Chicken? :)

Don't like this idea at all.

Oh my goodness! Are there enough baby alligators there to be dehydrating their heads?! Wow! How interesting! Pecan roll for me, please.

I wonder who on Earth would want alligators' heads! Interesting billboard, Lynn. V.

Hmmm, think I'll give the gator heads a miss, but the Pecan Log sounds good. :)

Definitely an old sign and really interesting, though a bit surprised they still sell dead alligators (or parts thereof)! V

Cool this old weathered sign. They used to have good Cheeseburgers too. I thought Stuckey's was from Georgia.
Helen Betts11-Apr-2017 14:47
How interesting is that! Not sure I'd want an alligator head in my house, even as a souvenir, though.
