This town, once known as Kingborough until the 14th Century, lies in the shadow of Sheerness on Kent's Isle of Sheppey, and is somewhat of a backwater seeing very little through traffic. This view illustrates its maritime connections, and Admiral Nelson learnt many of his seafaring schools round here, and shared a house in the small town with his mistress, Lady Hamilton.
