The mountain shelter called Samotnia, one of the oldest mountain refuges in Poland was built in the middle of 19th century.
It is located within the Karkonosze National Park, at 1195 m, in the post-glacial Cirque of the Small Pond (Kociol Malego Stawu).
Samotnia Refuge is an excellent starting point for hiking atop Mt. Snieżka or to the Czech refuges and picturesque Great Pond (Wielki Staw).
