Virgin River

Zion National Park, Utah

The Virgin River is a tributary of the Colorado River in the U.S. states of Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.
The river is about 162 miles long. It was designated Utah's first wild and scenic river in 2009, during the centennial celebration of Zion National Park.
While it looks meek and mild in this photo, the danger of flash flooding in the narrow canyon is very real and very dangerous.
Just a couple inches of rain can create a 55 foot wall of water in minutes.

Beautiful scenic with lovely touches of sunlight here and there. The river, lined with cottonwoods, leads the eye into the canyon where the canyon wall leads it around the bend, deep into the image. Beautiful, Lynn. Vote.

Those canyon walls are amazing. I can see why it's very easy to become caught up in the beauty and miss seeing the dangers
