Short Sperrin SA.4 VX158 was the first of two prototypes of this aircraft, first flown in 1952 and retired in 1958
The Sperrin was a four engine (two in each wing nacelle) designed to bridge the heavy bomber gap between the Avro Lincoln and the introduction of the V bomber but it never went into production and was mainly used as an engine test bed
