I'd been wanting to replicate this steam era photograph taken just east of Lynchburg, VA that was taken from a nearby hilltop. Today the same view is only possible by using a drone. The older photo was shot on November 17, 1957. Unfortunately I do not know who the photographer is. Six Mile Bridge was part of the N&W's original mainline through Lynchburg between Concord and Forest. It was originally part of the Southside Railroad which built through here in the 1850's. Through trains ceased operating over this trackage by the end of 1964 and the line was abandoned in various phases over time.
