This feather was shot at a pow wow and in order to help keep the detail in the feather I decided to use -.3 EC.

Canon EOS 80D ,Sigma 18-250 macro
1/400s f/6.3 at 250.0mm iso100 full exif

Looks like a nice exposure to me, Dale. That and the DOF both contributed to nice detail in your shot.
