I wouldn't know Dave, I am English.
The large Carrot shape is cut into the chalky ground.
It is a belief in England that eating carrots is good for your eyes, make you see better.
The large field there is in the grounds of an organisation called St Dunstan's.
St Dunstan's is there to help blind and poorly sighted people.
Difficult to see in this photo but the paths around the field have a continuous hand rail along them so the residents can stroll around in the fresh sea air.
This place is on the coast.

I don't get the sense of humor.
Does being British help to understand it?

Is that what that is? I'll hold off on visiting.
Let me know when it's gone.

Not this time Gary.
If you ever find the right spot, let me know, I will be there at the speed of light.

I hope this is a landing spot for aliens. I've waited my whole life for a spaceship to zoom in from outer space and offer to take me away (promising, of course to return me unharmed) but I've never known just where to be for this fortunate experience to unfold.
