Takayama Jinya is the ruins of a branch office of Edo Government. Takayama Jinya is the only remaining Jinya since Edo Period and designated as a National Historic Site of Japan. The Edo government directly ruled about 60 domains, called Tenryo, in various important areas of Japan. Jinya performed the administrative business, such as tax collection, finance, police action and judgement, and forest management.
