This building looked distinctive, but rather flimsy and it made me curious. So I now learn it was the old Whitehall cinema that was destroyed by the Luftwaffe in 1943, courtesy of a lone pilot who spotted a military convoy travelling down the street. I'm not sure how much of the facade was destroyed but one way or another the frontage is now back in place.
