A Day At The Green is a series of events held at Bimbadgen winery in the Hunter Valley. Fred Schneider, on opening their set, coined the term "Welcome to a Day At The Griddle" in reference to the 47C temperature this concert was held on. It was a record hot day. I had a not so stylish wet tea towel over my head & shoulders to help keep me cool. Not stylish but very practical.
Their spin:
Good food, fine wine and great music in magnificent locations... welcome to a day on the green!
A glittering array of International and Australian stars have performed during the past 14 years providing unforgettable musical memories. a day on the green is far more than a concert event, it is an “experience” and that is what sets it apart from other winery concerts.
Being able to bring your own food, the popular ‘picnic of the day’ prize, our resident DJ and party master Grand Master Baitz spinning the tunes between bands, the chance to meet artists at the signing desk and our hugely popular merchandise range are some of the little extras that go into making a day on the green such a great day.
A Sydney newspaper coined the phrase which still remains true – it is “the Big Day Out for grown-ups”.
So get a group of friends together, pack your picnic baskets and let us welcome you to a day on the green!
Only downside was that DSLR cameras were banned but P&S were acceptable.
The B-52s were the highlight of the event.
