Hüseyin Çağlayan, 1970. I am sad Leyla, 2010. In this impressive installation a mannequin with a bank face had a visage projected on her, that of famous singer Sertab Erener (Wikipedia: “Sertab Erener (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈseɾtap eɾeˈneɾ]; born 4 December 1964) is a Turkish pop music singer and also a cross-over soprano with a vocal range that extends to high F. She is one of the most successful female Turkish pop singers in her homeland, and is considered one of the divas of Turkish pop music.” ). There is music playing, and as here face moves all the time one has the curious feeling of being in the presence of an actual singer. This is augmented by the projection of an orchestra playing in the background. I took two shots, one with focus on her, one on the orchestra. I also kept a movie, later to hear that was not allowed. Oops.
