Day 20 - So I am sitting here this evening thinking about what to write. I have a nice dram of the Glenlivet assisting me in my endeavors. We sold a couple pieces of stereo equipment this morning. After that Ginny headed out on her quest to remodel the house. I am not sure where she went but when she returned she had almost a half ton (literally) of tile in the van. She was very excited because it was the first of the raw materials we are going to need for the grand experiment. She is going to put slate down in the living room and the kitchen. More thin square pieces of rock will be needed for that. Our contractor will haul that stuff for us.

As for me, your humble correspondent, I went to Fry's. In case you don't know, that is a big electronics store. We have decided to sell off all our existing audio gear. Our speakers (Snell type E II) were destroyed in the flood. Besides it turns out that we hardly ever used the audio system. Ginny still wants to be able to play her CDs, not that she ever will. Our lifestyle just hasn't included continuous music. After almost 43 years of marriage I am fairly confident that will not change. I also know after almost 43 years of marriage that if Ginny wants something, it had better happen or somebody is going to suffer (and who would that be?)

My solution to this problem was to get a bluetooth speaker. I have most of our CDs ripped and installed on my computer. I put them onto my iPad so they are portable. I got the speaker at Best Buy, actually. I found at Fry's that nobody wanted to answer my questions so I abandoned ship and went to Best Buy. I found a very helpful clerk, asked a bunch of questions and invested $20.00 right on the spot without a moment's hesitation.

Once back home I opened up the speaker package, pushed a couple of buttons, and I was soon filling the kitchen with rock and roll music. I was excited. I was pumped. I couldn't wait for Ginny to get home so I could show her our audio future. When she arrived I waited for the right moment then turned on the music. I chose the Beatles tune "Back in the USSR" because it is good rock and roll. She listened for at least 5 seconds and then said, "Oh, that's nice. Let me tell you about the tile I bought." OK, I instantly put the whole situation into perspective and shut off the music. The sound of my ego deflating was deafening (to me at least). I couldn't wait to see the tile, of course. My little experiment can be chalked up to cheap thrills. I am going to wait until Ginny decides to listen to music again. This could be a long time.

Reverend Oscar Simpson, a minister here in the Kingston area, always points out to the grooms that the secret to a successful marriage is just two words. Yes Dear.
