The church houses the replica of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper". This is a life-size, early 19th century piece created by Italian mosaicist, Giacomo Raffaelli.
Each tiny stone was chosen for its colour.
The mosaic is 9.18 x 4.47 m and weight approximatively 20 tons.
Originally the mosaic was commissioned by Napoleon I in 1809, but it was not finished before Napoleon's abdication.
Francis II, Emperor of Austria, bought it, wanting to install it in the Belvedere in Vienna. As it was too large for the building, it was set up on the north wall of the Minorites church.
This Church with its Italian connections was the perfect place.
