Powell in off to the right. The Kaiparowits plateau covers approximately 1650 square miless.
The craggy Kaiparowits Plateau, part of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, was once a steamy forest and home to many dinosaurs.
Many unique fossil remains have contributed crucial information to understanding the evolution of dinosaurs.
In fact, a new dinosaur species, Gryposaurus, was discovered as late as 2007 within the layers of the Kaiparowits Plateau.
