Isolation In An Elevator

The elevator in the College Hall Of Fame in Atlanta had a glass ceiling. At the last moment just as the door opened for the second floor I decided to take an image just to see what I could get. No selfie was intended for this image. When I opened this image on my computer I noticed how in a somewhat crowed elevator, everyone positioned themselves against the walls putting as much space as possible between them and individuals that were strangers. I remember there had been no smiles, greetings this New Years day or anyone talking. Interesting!

Nice study and observation, Dave. No one wants their personal space invaded, it seems. V

Very interesting for sure. Good to see you. A nice reminder for all of us to smile and say "Good Day" when riding an elevator. I'm surprised not to see some of the people looking at their smart phones.

I think this is typical behavior in an elevator, though I usually observe elevator passengers all facing the door. I love this story-telling image Dave! Great job, especially in B&W! BV

I love this shot! I guess we must be in our own little world while in an elevator. V

A fascinating study. It's amazing how much effort is put into avoiding human interaction. V

an inventive image...during a brief elevator ride it can be awkward to make small talk with strangers...apparently we each value our own space too..

Interesting image and observations, and nice to see you as well. That's not such a good sign for our society. V.

Mind bending, but in a good way. There is so much to see here and monochrome was a great choice so that color was not a distraction. I like how each of the "panels" tells a story. V
