The statue of Joan de Arc was a gift from Charles deGaulle in 1964. It remained in storage until a suitable place could be set up for her. In 1972 she was settled between the International Trade mart and the (old) Rivergate Center at the foot of Canal Street.
Progress came along (Harrah's Casino) and Joan was in the way of progress. She was again relocated to her home on Decatur and St Peter Street.
Along with the bronze guilded statue are 2 French cannons and a plaque from the French cruiser that bears her name.
