Château de Roquetaillade (French pronunciation: rock-ta-jad)is a castle/fortress dating to 1306 and has been privately owned by the same family ever since. Some imposing ruins also remain from the first fortification, which Charlemagne built.
The current fortress was built by Cardinal de la Mothe, a nephew of Pope Clement V, with the permission of the English King Edward I. Roquetaillade has six towers and a central keep. The structure was restored and transformed by French architect Viollet-le-Duc between 1860 and 1870.
You can also see the shadow of St. Michael's Chapel.
