The Phare du Stiff (Stiff lighthouse) is an official island monument from 1699.
It was construced by the famous French architect and military engineer Vauban (Sébastien Le Prestre, 1633-1707).
The two combined towers stand 32,4 meter tall (89 meters above sea level) near the Port du Stiff, on the northeastern tip of Ouessant island.
The lighthouse used coal orginally. In the 19th century it switched to petrol. Today it is powered by electricity.
