Tapioca slime mold (Brefeldia)

Conroy Pit

Not the most pretty of images, but I post it because this is an interesting slime mould. For one thing, it is one of the biggest we get around here. This one stretched for about 25cm down the trunk of a maple, quite a distance for a slime mould! It is called tapioca slime mould because, as can be seen, it resembles tapioca pudding.

I've never seen this before! Fascinating. Not sure about tapioca, but it does look like crumbly snow.

How interesting looking these slime molds are, something I've never seen in person. Excellent, detailed capture of it, too. V.
