Tapioca slime mold (Brefeldia maxima)

This one stretched for about 25cm down the trunk of a maple. It is called tapioca slime mould because, as can be seen, it resembles tapioca pudding.

I've never seen this before! Fascinating. Not sure about tapioca, but it does look like crumbly snow.
