At the Chinese Super Market

WRITING ON THE LABEL

"Mature Chicken Confucius Style
Non Eviscerated Poultry
with head and feet in tact
Keep refrigerated or frozen
Processed under USDA Exemption "
*******************************************************************************************
These chickens were being sold in a Chinese grocery store. They were also neither frozen nor on ice!!! These chickens (heads and feet and inners included) were merely sitting out at room temperature in cardboard boxes. Ugh!!! I personally would be a bit concerned about the danger of food poisoning. But people were still buying them.

Concerning being USDA "exempt", I found this info on the Web:
"Poultry (and rabbits) must be sold direct to consumer only (no wholesale/sold to be resold)"

Since the company that raised and packaged these chickens was in Iowa (and the chickens were being sold by a super market in Kansas City), this doesn't make sense. IMO, super market sales in a different state would not be directly to the consumer. This was not a direct sale of the chicken farmer to the public.

I saw the entire thing a bit strange. And worth a photo.
