Last Will and Testament of James Jackson - May 29, 1740

In the Name of God Amean I James Jackson
of Goshen being sick and weak of body but of sound and
perfect mind & memory thanks be to God and calling to
mind the uncertainty of this transitory life & that it is
appointed for all (Illegible) to die do make constitute app-
oint and ordain this my last will and testament in mannor
& form following that is to say principally and first of all
I recommend my soule into the hands of God who gave it
with full trust & firm confidence of a full & perfect remission
& forgiveness of my manifold sins through the tender mercies
of God in Jesus Christ my alone savior & redeemer
& my body to be buried in a Christian like & decent mannor
at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned &
as for such worldly substance wherewith it has pleased God
in this life to bestow upon me I give and bequeath of the same
as followeth

Impremise I give and bequeath to Hannah my dearly
beloved wife whom I also constitute and appoint sole
Executrix of this my last will & testament all and singular
my estate or estates lands or tennaments real & personal
movable and immovable after all my just and lawful debts
and funeral expenses shall be paid & satisfied thereout to be
wholly & solely at her power & disposal & my will & pleasure
is that the one half of all my said wife shall die possessed
of shall be given to my nephew Thomas Jackson & my niece
Margret Gale the other half to be at her own (Illegible)
and my further pleasure is that my Negro Neeland(?) if my said
wife should incline to sell him shall be sold for no
longer time than till he arrive at the age of twenty eight
years & then to be set at liberty & freedom he being now
fourteen years of age & do hereby revoak (revoke) & by these present
(illegible) all manner of former will or wills gifts or beque-
athments by me in any wise heretofore ratifying
