Electronic Memory? We did that.
In 1947, the world's first electronic computer memory was developed here, by Freddie Williams and Tom Kilburn. It is a modified cathode ray tube, capable of storing bits of data as patterns of light on the surface of the screen. This enabled development of the first computer with a memory, the Mancheter "SmallScale Experimental Machine", ultimately nicknamed the "Baby".
