Mono was very well chosen to render this portrait to advantage, and the tonal range is excellent.
The central composition / framing also is optimal, in my opinion, especially given the direct eye contact with the viewer.
To give depth to a face, often a 3/4 view and/or directional lighting is suggested, but you have used the full tonal range to achieve this very well.
