The Blue Nile - Sudan.

Flowing through the barren and desolate desert of Southern Sudan, the Blue Nile has been one of the greatest African mysteries and exploration goals of the late 19th century explorers and adventurers who all wanted to find the mysterious origins of this gigantic river.

Beginning out of Laka Tana, deep inside Ethiopia, the river flows through Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan, where it merges with the While Nile and continues to flow up North, through Egypt and ends up in the Mediterranean Sea. This river was indirectly responsible for the rise in culture of the ancient Egyptian empire that started up to 6000 years ago, all thanks to the frequent flooding that allowed extensive farming and the flourishing of a complicated society that prospered for nearly 5000 years before it would leave its marks in the history books forever.

Flying at a comfortable 40.000ft and overlooking this huge vein in the otherwise empty landscape was a nice glance at a rarely seen part of Africa and its rich history.
