SUNSPOTS

During the Southeast Asian Haze in September 2015
that affected several countries including the Philippines,
the fullness of the sun can be seen from Dumaguete City
as early as five in the afternoon.
I got a chance to make some quick snapshots of it,
but unknown to me that SUNSPOTS were visible as well.

Sunspots are temporary phenomena on the radiated light of the sun.
They are planet-sized regions caused by the sun's
magnetic field welling up to the photosphere
or the surface of the sun. Since sunspots have
cooler temp (lower kelvin) than that of the photosphere,
these areas then appeared to be darker.
